Here is a small progress report on the components of the
Mythology Board Game Project. I will give a quick breakdown of all components, and you can find my progress at the bottom of this message.
ART for GAME BOX: This is one very important image, that I will have to commission (when I am ready to get quotes, I will give
top priority to those who have already contributed to the Game!). The image will have to capture the essence of the game, which is a conflict between six of the Deities! The back of the Box will most likely have a picture of the game, setup to play.
BOARD MAP: The Board Map is the first component to be completed! A small version can be seen in the Gallery.
CARDS: In the last few weeks, I have been focusing mainly on the deck of 50 cards, which all requires an image. Hopefully I will be able to complete this soon, so I can move on to another part of the Project. If I cannot easily find images for the missing cards, I will most likely reduce the deck to fewer cards. The original game had about 37 cards, so I am not worried about shaving off a few from the 50 card deck! Also, there is about 200 monsters, deities, heroes from Greek Mythology, so I can always get a new design up to replace cards that are too difficult to get images for.
COUNTERS: Those are the playing pieces that are placed on the Board Map. I am currently looking to make them 5/8" square, and 1"x5/8" for Galleys. This is the same size as the counters used in the "Civilization" board game...
ART for LOGO: I will require a Logo for the Game itself: But since I don't know exactly HOW it will be named [the Mythology name is already taken...], I cannot really get this done just yet. The Logo itself will appear in many places, like the Board Map, the Box itself, and perhaps on the back of all the cards...! Again, this will be a commission where contributors will get first priority.
DEITY RESUME SHEETS: These cards are given to each player and contains a nice résumé of the rules, and the powers each Deity has. They are very useful during play and greatly facilitate game play!
RULES: Well, the Rules of the game are pretty much written down! I just need to polish them to be as precise and easy to comprehend.
RULEBOOK: The Rulebook will contain the Rules, but in a format that is similar to existing games. This is what people will read when they get the game! So I expect it to be very well made, clear and have nice examples of play.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
